Jenny, Midnight Strings

Jenny Collingham, from Ilfracombe, Devon has been involved in music since the age of 10 when she began learning the violin and piano alongside her twin sister, Kate and elder sister, Emma. Within three years of beginning her study on the violin, Jenny took on the task of learning the viola, which soon became her principal instrument. After being offered a place in the County Youth Orchestra, she went on to be the principal violist touring Norway, Prague, Germany and Belgium whist also playing in the Royal Festival Hall and being requested to perform for Her Majesty The Queen's Golden Jubilee. On her path to Music College, amongst many awards, Jenny received the Hilda Phillips memorial cup for excellence in music, a scholarship to the Dartington International Summer School and Rotary Young Musician of the year. Jenny went on to achieve her Honours Degree at Trinity College of Music which has led her to perform with numerous ensembles from symphony and chamber orchestras under the baton of numerous conductors including Sir Charles Mackerras, Gary Walker and Jan Latham-Koenig, to string quartet and trio performing in venues including The Mansion house, Hampton Court Palace, live on FM radio and touring Europe with Spirit of the Dance Productions which included the Faroe Islands, Norway, Holland, Denmark and Sweden.
